The Eastern Africa Standby Force is a regional organization whose mandate is to enhance peace and security in the Eastern Africa region. EASF was established as a regional mechanism to provide capability for rapid deployment of forces to carry out preventive deployment, rapid intervention, peace support/stability operations and peace enforcement. AFRIPOL is an independent mechanism of the African Union (AU) and a key stakeholder in the area of international police cooperation and in the fight against transnational crime. As a regional police organization, AFRIPOL provides a framework for police cooperation at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels in all African states. The African Policing Civilian Oversight Forum (APCOF) is a None Profit Trust working on issues of police accountability and governance in Africa by promoting the values which the establishment of civilian oversight seeks to achieve; namely by assist in restoring public confidence, developing a culture of human rights, promoting integrity and transparency within the police, and nurturing good working relationships between the police and the community. RECSA is an internationally recognized inter-governmental organization within Africa whose sole mandate is to address the proliferation of illicit SALW to provide a conducive environment for sustainable development. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in partnership with the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Regional Counter-Terrorism Centre of Excellence (CTCoE) continues to conduct a comprehensive project that seeks to fully operationalize the Centre by strengthening its research and analysis capacity and output, and continues to offer support in the provision of bilateral and regional capacity building to EAPCCO Member States.
